DropIn Chrome Extension — AI-Powered Homework & Quiz Assistant
Overview
DropIn Chrome Extension is an AI-powered academic assistant that integrates directly into online quizzes, homework systems, and study platforms. Built with React, the extension helps students instantly solve questions, highlight text for explanations, and receive AI-generated insights — all within their browser. The goal was to create a seamless, one-click workflow that boosts efficiency and improves academic performance.
The Challenge
Students needed a tool that worked smoothly across dozens of learning platforms without disrupting page functionality. The challenge was to build a stable Chrome extension that could detect on-page elements, highlight content, interact with AI APIs, and provide answers instantly — all while maintaining performance and working across optimized sites like quiz systems, LMS platforms, and homework portals.

Process
Architecture Planning & Extension Setup
Built the Chrome extension structure using React for the popup and content scripts. Planned communication between background workers, the UI, and AI request handlers.
AI-Powered Highlight Interaction
Implemented a dynamic highlight-to-solve system allowing users to select any text or question and instantly receive AI-generated explanations or solutions.
One-Click Answer Workflow
Developed a right-click context menu feature enabling students to instantly get answers to highlighted questions with zero friction.
Multi-Site Optimization Engine
Added platform-specific tweaks enabling the extension to function across 25+ educational and quiz websites. Ensured strong compatibility, fast loading, and minimal DOM interference.
Dashboard, Plans & Authentication
Integrated Sign-In, subscription plans, and feature limitations based on user tier. Added onboarding screens and a polished home + features + contact flow.
